Amazing chemistry experiment (化學實驗)
Things you need: a cup some water ice cube (小方冰塊) string (線) salt
Steps:
Firstly, fill a cup with water. Put an ice cube into the water.
Secondly, carefully put the string so that it lies(躺)on the top of the ice cube.
Thirdly, when the string touches (接觸) the ice cube, ask your friend to add some salt on the ice cube.
Finally, wait for one minute. Then carefully lift(提)the ice cube from the water by picking up the string.
Why does it happen?
Salt can make ice melt (融化). Adding some salt on the ice cube makes a little puddle (水坑) of melted ice. While you wait, the ice cube freezes (凝固) the puddle around the string. Now the ice cube “sticks to” the string so you can lift up(提起)the ice cube.

What do you see when you look at abstract(抽象) art? Does it make sense to you? Does it look like anything? Is it supposed to?
Abstract art became popular in the early 20th century. Artists did not want to paint, draw, or sculpt things exactly(確切地) like they looked. They didn't want their art to be realistic. They were more interested in basic shapes and colours.
Picasso is probably the most famous of these artists. He painted and drew in many, many styles. Sometimes he used a lot of blue colours (his "blue period"). After a long time, Picasso's paintings became more and more abstract. He painted people and things using strange shapes. His work was so original; many of his fellow artists didn't understand it.
Kandinsky, another famous artist, used lines, shapes, and patterns to paint his subjects. His paintings also used strong colours to express feelings.
Other artists like the surrealists(超現實主義者), were interested in subconscious(潛意識). Painters like Breton and Magritte used many symbol in their work. The meaning or subject of their work wasn't always clear. Dali, another surrealist artist, painted pictures that look like dreams.
There are still many abstract artists around the world. That's the way many artists prefer. They want each person to look at art and find their own meaning in it.
