Some people like to get up early, but some do not. In fact, it is really good for us to get up early every day. Maybe those who don’t like getting up early will not believe this, but it is true. Scientists made a survey(調(diào)查) in about one thousand people, and then they found that early rising people had less disease(疾病) than late rising people, and early rising people also look healthier than late rising people, and so on.

Secondly, early rising helps us in our studies. In the morning we learn more quickly and find it easier to understand what we learn.
Thirdly, early rising can give us a plan of our work for the day. We cannot work well without a good plan.
Fourthly, early rising gives us enough time to get ready for our work, such as to wash our hands and faces and eat our breakfast.
Late risers may find it difficult to form(形成) the habit(習(xí)慣) of early rising. They have to make an effort(努力) to do so. As the English proverb(諺語) says, “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.”

In some science fiction movies, evil robots refuse to die, no matter how hard people fight back.
Now science fiction has become science fact. For the first time, scientists have made a robot that can take a beating and keep on going. Scientists from Cornell University made the robot, which looks like a spider with four legs.
Until now, even the most advanced (先進(jìn)的) robot was almost certain to break down when it was damaged (毀壞). That is because its computer inside simply doesn’t know how to make the machine work after its shape has changed.
To deal with this problem, the scientists put eight motors (發(fā)動機(jī)) and two sensors (傳感器) that read how the machine is working. They all give signals to the machine’s software. Using this information, the computer can then figure out the machine’s shape at any moment.
The new technology is a big advance in robot-making, scientists say, and it’s far from scary. It may someday help scientists create better artificial (假的) arms and legs and give new freedom to people who lose them. It might also help scientists understand how people and animals figure out their own sense of place in space.
“It has been difficult to design robots that can work well when the environment changes or when it’s damaged,” says Olaf Sporns of Indiana University in US. “With this work, we are nearer to solving this problem.”
小題1:Why do robots easily break down when they are damaged?
A.They cannot repair themselves.
B.The computer has changed a lot.
C.They have no computers inside.
D.The computer cannot work if the robot changes.
小題2:The new technology(技術(shù)) allows the robot to        .
A.keep working after being damaged
B.tell people where it is
C.do house work for humans
D.remember a lot of information
小題3:The underlined word “them” in Paragraph 5 refers to       .
A.sensors B.robotsC.scientistsD.a(chǎn)rms and legs
小題4:How do the sensors in the robot work?
A.They can replace the computer when it’s broken.
B.They help the computer learn the robot’s condition.
C.They can find out where the damage comes from.
D.They can send signals to the person who uses the robot.

When I was a child I never said, "When I grow up, I want to be a CEO," but here I am. When I look back on my career, I realize the road to becoming a CEO isn't a straight, clear path. In fact, no two paths are the same. But whether you want to be a boss one day or not, there's a lot to learn from how leaders rise to the top of successful companies.
As this series of stories shows, the paths to becoming a CEO may be different, but the people in that position(位置) share the qualities of commitment(義務(wù)), work ethic(道德) and a strong desire for building something new. And every CEO take risks along the way—putting your life savings on the line to start a software company or leaving a big business to be one of the first employees at a startup.
I grew up in Minnesota, and learned how to be an entrepreneur(企業(yè)家)from my father, who has run a small business for almost 30 years. I went to Georgetown University and tried a lot of business activities in college with success. And I always had a dream job pattern(模式): to walk to work, work for myself and build something for consumers(顧客).
I'm only 29, so it's been a quick ride to CEO. Out of college, I worked for AOL as a product manager, then moved to Revolution Health and ran the consumer product team. In mid-2007 I left Revolution Health and started LivingSocial with several other workmates, where I became a CEO.
Career advice: Don't figure out where you want to work, or even what industry you'd like to work at. Figure out what makes you do so. What gives you a really big rush? Answer why you like things, not what you like doing. . . and then apply it to your work life. Also, just because you're graduating, don't stop learning. Read more books than you did in college. If you do, and they're not, you're really well-positioned to succeed in whatever you do.

D.His father had far-reaching influence on him.

“Jason, honey? Can you answer the door?”
“I am busy, mom!” Jason shouted back at his mother. He had spent three hours so far working to this point in the game. He couldn’t stop now.

“Jason, it’s your friend Todd.” Mom called from the doorway.

We′ll make you do something else before you play any more.”

Just as in face-to-face communication, there are some basic rules of behavior(行為) that should be followed on the Internet. The basic rule is simple: treat others in the same way you would want to be treated. Imagine how you’d feel if you were in the other person’s shoes.
For anything you’re about to send: ask yourself, “ Would I say that to the person’s face?” If the answer is no, rewrite and reread. If someone in the chat room is rude to you, you needn’t to fire back. You should either ignore(不理睬) the person, or use your chat software to block their messages. Remember to respect the beliefs and opinions of others in the chat room.
Everyone was new to the network once. Offer advice when asked by newcomers, as they may not be sure what to do or how to communicate. When someone makes a mistake, be kind about it. If you do decide to tell someone about the mistake, point it out politely. At the same time, if you find you are wrong, be sure to correct yourself and apologize to those that you have offended(冒犯). You’d better not ask others questions about their age, sex and families.
