Several dead after woman fought with driver, causing bus to fall in China river.

By the Associated Press, Friday, November 2nd, 2018

BEIJING (AP)--A fight between a bus driver and a woman passenger who missed her stop caused the bus to fall off a high bridge into China's Yangtze River.

Wanzhou police said the 48-year old woman passenger asked the driver to stop after she missed her stop, but the driver didn't. She walked up to the driver's seat and talked angrily with him. The driver turned his head several times to talk angrily. Some of people tried to stop them, but it didn't work. The woman strongly hit the driver on the head with her mobile phone. The driver took his right arm off the steering wheel(方向盤)and fought back, then quickly turned to the left, making the bus out of control. Thirteen people, including the two drivers died at once. Another two died on the way to hospital. The doctors rushed to the place at the news of the accident. By 5 a.m., all of the injured(傷者)were sent to three local hospitals for treatment. A hospital said most of the patients were in a good condition, but a few were still in danger. Because of the icy roads, the highway was closed by police sine Tuesday morning. But the bus driver chose the dangerous road, paying no attention to the warnings.

According to a 2009 national public survey, traffic accidents were considered as people's third biggest problem. However, many people still die and hurt because of traffic accident today. From these accidents, we must learn a lesson: obey public rules in order to reduce the danger from accidents.

Do you often run outdoors to keep healthy? Have you ever thought about how running helps to clean up the earth? Sometimes a creative mind can bring us a win-win(雙贏) situation.

Plogging began in Sweden(瑞典). The name“plogging" comes from two words -the Swedish(瑞典的) word "plocka", which means“to pick up”, and the word "jogging", which means“to run slowly". A Swedish man called Erik started the movement.

He saw rubbish here and there when riding to work each day. He became worried about the dirty environment and decided not to go to work by bike any more.

Then he began to run to work and pick up the rubbish.①To his joy, more and more people followed him and soon the new way to exercise became popular.

Many people choose plogging instead of just jogging because they think plogging is a good way to help clean up the earth. Sometimes rubbish is difficult to collect because it may scatter(散落) all around. But if the runners pick up the rubbish on the way, it is quite different. After all, many hands make light work.

Another reason is that plogging burns more calories(卡路里). According to a research, plogging for 10 minutes burns 48 calories, while usual jogging for 10 minutes burns about 39 calories.

Everyone on the earth should play a part in cleaning it up!②是我們一起采取行動的時候了。So ready? Let's plog tomorrow!

1.What does "plogging”mean?

___________________________________________________________________

2.After Erik saw much rubbish, did he continue riding a bike to work?

3.Why do people choose plogging?
