自渡風陵，易車而騎，朝發蒲坂，夕宿鹽池，陰云蔽虧，時雨凌厲。自河以東，與關內稍異。土逼若衖②，涂危入棧。原林黯慘，疑披谷口之霧；衢歌哀怨，恍聆山陰之笛。
日在西隅，始展黃君仲則殯于運城西寺，見其遺棺七尺，枕書滿篋，撫其吟案，則阿妳③之遺箋尚存；披其繐帷④，則城東之小史既去。蓋相如病肺⑤，經月而難痊；昌谷⑥嘔心，臨終而始悔者也。猶復丹鍋狼藉，幾案紛披，手不能書，畫之以指。此則杜鵑欲化，猶振哀音，鷙鳥將亡，冀留勁羽，遺棄一世之務，留連身后之名者也。
伏念明公生則為營薄宦，死則為恤衰親，復發德音，欲梓遺集。一士之成，玉成終始，聞之者動容，受之者淪髓⑦。冀其游岱之魂，感恩而西顧；返洛之旐⑧，銜酸而東指。又況龔生竟夭，尚有故人；元伯雖亡，不無死友。他日傳公風義，勉其遺孤，風茲來祀⑨，亦盛事也。
今謹上其詩及樂府共四大冊。此君平生與亮吉雅故，惟持論不同，嘗戲謂亮吉曰：“予不幸早死，集經君訂定，必乖余之旨趣矣。”省其遺言，為之墮淚。今不敢輒加朱墨，皆封送閣下，暨與述庵廉使、東友侍讀，共刪定之。即其所就，已有可傳，方乎古人，無愧作者。惟稿草皆其手寫，別無副本，梓后尚望付其遺孤，以為手澤耳。
亮吉十九日已抵潼關，馬上率啟，不宣⑩。
